Location Check

Screen a site's alcohol-permit eligibility before you commit

An instant, automated preliminary check of the distance requirements that most often decide whether a Texas location can hold an alcohol permit — with every measurement shown on an interactive map.

The flow, step by step

1

Enter the address

Type the street address of the site you are evaluating. We geocode it and locate the underlying parcel using county parcel data.

2

Confirm the parcel

The property boundary is drawn on a map so you can confirm the exact parcel before any measurement runs. Wrong parcel, wrong answer — so we make you confirm first.

3

Automated distance measurements

We search for nearby protected facilities and measure the distance from your site to each one using the measurement method that applies to that facility type.

4

Score and explanation

You get a visible score for each facility category and an overall result, with a plain-English explanation of every measured distance, its confidence level, and what it means.

What we search for

Texas distance rules protect specific facility types. A Location Check searches for all of them around your site.

Religious institutions

Churches, mosques, temples, synagogues, and other places of worship.

Public hospitals

Publicly operated hospitals near the site.

Public & private schools

Public and private schools, including their property boundaries.

Designated day-care alcohol-free zones

Day-care centers with designated alcohol-free zones.

Two measurement methods, applied correctly

Distance rules don't all measure the same way, and using the wrong method can flip a result. A Location Check applies the method that matches each facility type:

Door to door

Measured along the path from the front door of your business to the nearest door of the protected facility. Used for religious institutions and public hospitals.

Property line to property line

Measured in a straight line between the nearest points of the two property boundaries. Used for schools and designated day-care alcohol-free zones.

The interactive measurement map

Every measured facility appears on an interactive map with the measurement line drawn from your site, so you can see exactly what was measured, from where, to where. Each measurement also carries a confidence level:

  • High ConfidenceVerified entrances or parcel boundaries on both ends.
  • EstimatedOne or both endpoints were estimated from available data.
  • Manual Review RecommendedThe result is close to a threshold or the data is ambiguous — a professional review is recommended before relying on it.

How the score works

Each facility category gets its own component score based on the closest measured facility of that type.

Facility categoryMeasured distanceComponent score
Religious institutions & public hospitals300 ft or more100
250 – 299.99 ft70
Under 250 ft50
Schools & day-care alcohol-free zones300 ft or more100
Under 300 ft50

The overall score is the lowest component — never an average.

One close facility can be disqualifying on its own, so a strong score in three categories can't paper over a problem in the fourth. Your overall score is always the weakest link, shown with an explanation of which facility caused it.
